Are you really obsessed to something? Obsession can be for anything it can be for alcohol or for some kind of colour or something else? If you are really obsessed then you might be suffering from a disorder called Obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD). This disorder is basically an anxiety disorder which is often characterized by obtrusive thoughts. These thoughts can cause uneasiness, fear and worry. This disorder can cause people to have unwanted thoughts and can also lead to repetition of behaviour. These unwanted thoughts can be called as obsession and the repetitive behaviour can be termed as compulsions.
Generally we all work according to our daily routines but in case of people suffering from OCD their daily routine is disturbed by their different pattern of behaviours. OCD is common in age group of 18 to 54 years. Obsessions are basically ideas or thoughts or impulses that come in a person’s mind again and again. A person suffering from OCD cannot control these thoughts and often find then irritating and disturbing. These thoughts can also make the person discouraged and agitated. Even they also try to ignore such impulses by setting their own rules and different behaviours. These behaviours are called compulsions or can also be called as compulsive behaviors. The emotional symptoms include a feeling of prior understanding that something grave will happen, a feeling of fear and fidgetiness, you will feel uneasiness in everything, it will be very difficult to concentrate on anything, a complete blackout is possible, you will feel very irritated; it will become very diffcult to calm your mind. These are some of the emotional symptoms.
No one in the world has yet discovered a major cause for OCD. Some of the doctors and psychiatrist claims that this disorder is caused due imbalance of some chemicals in the brain. A chemical named serotonin makes the people repeat one thing again and again. People suffering from OCD may not have enough serotonin so it is advisable to have drugs that lead to increase in amount of serotonin in the brain. Healthy lifestyle, less of stress and right sleep is also found useful in treating the conditions related to OCD. One suffering from the problem is also suggested to perform regular exercises and to keep their diet healthy so that they can lead a healthy lifestyle without any disorders and health issues which then automatically helps in treating obsessions.
According to psychiatrist in Dubai the most effective OCD treatment is combining therapy with medication. There are a large number of medicines prescribed for OCD treatment. Sometimes these medicines can also be used for depression. However it is good to know that some of these drugs also have some side effects which can lead to problems such as nausea and drowsiness. They might also have sexual side effects. One of the bests OCD treatment is the behavioural therapy. This OCD treatment should be done under a trained therapist or a professional psychiatrist who is experienced enough to deal with the problem efficiently. In behavioural therapy, people face different situations that lead to obsessions and apprehension. Then they are encouraged not to perform their compulsive behaviour so that their nervousness can be controlled.
